Who is this test for?

This test is for anyone who wants to find out if they have ever been infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus. It is not for anyone who currently has symptoms as it is only accurate around 14 days after symptoms have passed and your body has created enough antibodies to be detected on the test.

How does this test work?

This test uses a blood sample taken using a home sample collection kit to identify IgG antibodies. These are the antibodies created by your body following infection with COVID-19.

The test is known as an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test, which means it is specific to the antibodies created by the COVID-19 strain of the virus. It can therefore definitively say that you have been infected with the deadly COVID-19 as opposed to other kinds of coronavirus.

This test only identifies the IgG antibodies, which are the long term antibodies that will remain in your body for longer. It does not identify the IgM antibodies. It will only be accurate for from around 14 days once your symptoms have passed.

Is this test accurate and safe?

This Antibody Test is approved by FDA and deemed as safe to use following extensive independent testing by our laboratory. It offers accuracy in excess of 99% and can say if you’ve had COVID-19. The home sample collection method is verified by the UKAS Accredited laboratory that carries out the test.

Our tests are NOT INSTANT TESTS, they require a blood sample to be tested in a UKAS Accredited laboratory and are completely safe and accurate. We also conduct our own due diligence for all of our testing products.

You can read more on the subject of accuracy in this blog on the subject.

If I have IgG am I immune?

Someone with a normal immune system that can fight the virus and get better should have immunity for quite some time. How long and whether it is lifelong is currently difficult to say. This will become more clear as global research surrounding the virus develops.

When should I take this test?

This test offers accurate results against COVID-19 14 days after symptoms have passed.

How do I deposit my sample?

This test requires a finger prick blood sample taken by you at home. This convenient method of testing takes around 15 minutes to collect a sample and is completely pain free. Find out more under the procedure tab or read our blog on the subject.

How long does it take to receive my results?

Results for the COVID-19 ELISA Antibody test are return the same day that they reach the laboratory. Samples are returned with a Royal Mail 1st Class envelope, offering a 2 day turnaround time.

Please Note: the original manufacturer of the devices does not authorise or take any responsibility for use or performance of the Abbott SARS-CoV-2 Assay outside of their use in connection with venous blood samples taken by a professional in a clinical setting. The home sample collection method has however been validated by the UKAS Accredited laboratory that we use.
