Tests for

Hepatitis C

Who is this test for?

This test is designed for anyone who believes they have come into contact with Hepatitis C following contact with a infected sexual partner. For the test to reach the required standard of accuracy, the exposure must have occurred at least 45 days ago.

Please note that if you are carrying out a routine test against Hepatitis C because you are part of a high risk group you should be tested against Hepatitis B as well.

Turnaround Time

This test has a 4 hour turnaround time once it is received by the laboratory.

When can I take this test?

The Hepatitis C test offers the required standard of accuracy from 45 days following exposure, but retesting following six months is recommended in order to confirm accuracy. If you have come into contact with the condition more recently than 45 days it’s recommended that you use our Early Detection Hepatitis C screen which uses a different method to detect the virus sooner.

Clinic test procedure

By selecting a clinic test you’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor in one of our sexual health clinics located across the country.

1. Book your test

To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.

2. Arrive at the clinic

Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.

3. Your blood sample

The Hepatitis C test requires a blood sample only. The blood sample is collected by a trained nurse or doctor. They’ll take care of you and ensure you’re comfortable, but it will require the use of a needle.

4. Now we’ll take care of your results

Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory.
