Who is this Same-Day HIV Test for?

This test is for anyone who believes they have come into contact with someone who has HIV. It can give you the answers you need in just 20 minutes.

How is the test carried out?

The test is carried out using blood samples that are collected by a clinician at the clinic location of your choosing.

Turnaround Time

This test gains accurate results against HIV in under 30 minutes. In the event of a positive test for HIV, it will be taken to our laboratory for confirmatory viral load testing free of charge.

When can I take this test?

This test offers accurate results from 28 days after exposure. If you believe there is a possibility that you came into contact more recently, our early detection screens may be more useful. Contact our customer services team to find out more.

As this is an Instant Test, offering results whilst you wait, this test is only available by visiting one of our specially selected clinics. You’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor in collecting your sample, before they test them using the latest state of the art testing panels.

1. Book your test

To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.

2. Arrive at the clinic

Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.

3. Your blood sample

This test requires a blood sample for accurate results. The blood sample is a simple finger prick sample which is then dropped on the panels before we add the reagent to it.

4. Now we’ll take care of your results

Once you’ve deposited your samples you’ll be asked to wait in the clinic waiting room whilst the reagent has time to react to your samples. Once your results are known you will be notified by the clinician.

Can you Get HIV Test Results on the Same Day?

Yes, HIV tests can provide you with a result on the same day that you take them. The only thing to bear in mind is that you need to wait at least 28 days after you think you’ve been exposed to the disease. Otherwise, the test can give a false negative.

What Sample is Required for HIV Tests?

Taking a blood sample is the most common way of testing for HIV and this is the method we use for all of our HIV tests. Alternatively, oral fluid or urine can also be used.

How Accurate are Instant HIV Tests?

Rapid HIV tests provide the same accuracy as other HIV tests, so you can trust their results. However, remember to wait for at least 28 days after exposure before you get tested as this is the minimum incubation period required for the instant tests to detect HIV in the blood.

Can an HIV Test Detect Other STIs?

No, if a test is stated to be specific for testing HIV, then it won’t detect any other STIs even if you are infected. If you wish to test for other STDs, then we recommend doing a Full STI Check or opting for one of our Profile tests. 

Are Home HIV Tests Available?

Yes, you can take an HIV test in the comfort of your own home, but you won’t be able to get same-day results, as home tests usually have a turnaround time of one day. If a home test is what you are after, then this HIV Home Test Kit is the one for you.
