Private testing provider offering discount to NHS staff

Private testing provider Your Sexual Health, has launched its own coronavirus testing service available to patients across the UK.

The RNA testing will diagnose a current COVID-19 infection from five days following exposure using a nasopharyngeal swab sample. Tests are priced from £249 to members of the general public.

Medical Director Dr Rashid Bani, said: “We’re pleased to be able to offer these tests to the general public. It’s not clear how long it will take for COVID-19 testing to become available to the wider population so it’s important that we make testing private testing as accessible as possible.”

In addition to the test, our team are on hand to explain your results and talk you through what they mean. If you require it, we can recommend an independent private GP to you at no extra cost.

The test detects the nucleic material (RNA) within the virus. This allows for the identification of a current COVID-19 infection. It uses a nasopharyngeal swab to collect a sample from the nose and throat.

Currently the sample kits are available on a collection, courier or standard home delivery service. Once received by the laboratory, results will be available within 3 days.

To help ease the pressure on NHS testing and to help those in need beat the usual avenues for testing, Your Sexual Health is offering a discount for NHS staff. Tests are available at the reduced price of £175.

“We want our testing to be seen as a quick and more convenient way for NHS staff to get tested if they need to,” said Dr Bani. “We’re offering the discount to give key NHS staff members the option to get tested without the need to queue at a drive through clinic. We hope this can help in any way.”
