As a general rule of thumb, we always encourage everyone to undergo a general ‘sexual health MOT’ every year or every six months, testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and HIV. If you’re single and you’ve had multiple sexual partners, we would recommend more regular testing.

Common signs of an STD may differ from men to women, and from person to person. These include: 

• Unusual vaginal discharge
• Pain while urinating
• Sores or spots around the genitals
• Pain during sex
• Lower abdominal pain

Remember, some STDs may not show symptoms, so you should still get tested.
