Who Should Take This Test?
This test is designed for men who have sex with men as it uses both throat and rectal swabs, alongside standard blood and urine samples in order to offer a more comprehensive check against the four most common sexually transmitted infections.
How is This Test Carried Out?
The test is carried out using a rectal swab, a throat swab, a venous blood sample and a standard urine sample. When you arrive at your appointment medical staff will offer you advice on how to take your swabs and urine sample, before taking your blood sample.
How Long Do Results From Gay STD Testing Take?
This test can take up to 5 days to gain accurate results once received by the lab. On many occasions our results are returned quicker. Some of the conditions within the MSM Profile may be diagnosed quicker than others and on these occasions we’ll notify you of each as and when we receive them. If you are looking for STD tests with instant results, view our Instant Testing range, which are available at some select clinics.
How Long After Exposure Should I Take This Test?
Please be advised that this test will only offer the advised level of accuracy against all conditions 28 days after potential exposure. If you believe you came into contact sooner than 28 days then you may wish to take one of our Early Detection tests which offer accurate results just 10 days after exposure.

To book this test, simply press the ‘Book Now’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs. All of our clinics are easily accessible either via main roads or public transport.
2. Your Gay STD Testing Appointment
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Once you arrive, simply let the receptionist know who you are, and there will only be a short wait until you are greeted by one of our friendly nurses.
3. Collecting the Blood Sample
The MSM Profile test requires a blood, swab, and urine sample. The blood sample is collected by a trained nurse or doctor. They’ll take care of you and ensure you’re comfortable, but it will require the use of a needle.
4. Collecting the Urine Sample
The urine sample will be collected by you in a clinic toilet, with the nurse or doctor providing you with full instructions before you deposit the sample. For the test to be fully accurate you must catch the first stream of urine.
5. Collecting the Swab Sample
Your swab sample may be taken by you following instructions from the nurse or doctor, or it may be taken directly by the nurse or doctor. It’s important that you follow the instructions carefully to ensure it’s taken from the correct area of the body.
6. Receiving Your Test Results
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory. Positive tests can be actioned by your own GP. We can also recommend an independent private GP service should you require it.
