Who is this test for?
This test is designed for anyone who has had unprotected sex with someone who has gonorrhoea. It offers a faster turnaround time than our standard tests, meaning you can get your results quicker. If you’ve been told by one of your previous sexual partners that they have gonorrhoea then you’ll need to get tested.
Turnaround Time
Results for this test will usually be available within a day of being received by the laboratory. All of our samples are sent to the laboratory by either post or courier, usually taking 1-2 working days, depending on the time of your appointment.
When can I take this test?
This test offers accurate diagnosis 14 days after potential exposure to gonorrhoea. If you believe you have come into contact with it more recently than this period, then it’s unlikely to be accurate. If you have any questions about when the earliest point to get tested is, please contact our customer services team on 0161 660 2599 or by using the Live Chat function.
Clinic test procedure
By selecting a clinic test you’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor in one of our sexual health clinics located across the country.
1. Book your test
To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.
2. Arrive at the clinic
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.
3. Your urine sample
You’ll be seen by a nurse or doctor who will talk you through the procedure of depositing your urine sample. It’s important that you catch the first flow of urine as this will have the highest concentration of bacteria. Once you’ve deposited your sample it will be returned to the nurse and sent to the laboratory.
4. Now we’ll take care of your results
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory.
