Who is this test for?
Our Early Detection Blood test is for anyone who wants to test for HIV, Syphilis or Hepatitis, but doesn’t want to wait 28 days to use our standard tests. It’s a good option for anyone who is particularly worried about HIV or Hepatitis, ensuring you can get the answers you need as soon as possible so that you can continue with your life.
Turnaround Time
Results for this test will usually be available three days after your sample is received in the lab. The sample is sent to the laboratory using either Royal Mail 1st Class post or by courier.
When can I take this test?
This test offers accurate results 10 days after potential exposure to the condition, meaning you don’t have to wait the usual 28 days. If you believe you’ve come into contact with the condition more recently than 10 days, contact our customer services team who will be able to discuss your options.
Is this test for me?
If you are particularly concerned about HIV or Hepatitis following unprotected sex with someone to the point where the worry is affecting your life then this test is for you. It allows you to gain the answers you need after just 10 days. However, it doesn’t offer the full picture of your sexual health that some of our other tests do.
Clinic test procedure
This test is only available as a clinic test or by using our home visits service. By selecting a clinic test you’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor in one of our sexual health clinics located across the country.
1. Book your test
To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.
2. Arrive at the clinic
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.
3. Your blood sample
The Early Detection 2 test requires a blood and urine sample. The blood sample is collected by a trained nurse or doctor. They’ll take care of you and ensure you’re comfortable, but it will require the use of a needle.
4. Your urine sample
The urine sample will be collected by you in a clinic toilet, with the nurse or doctor providing you with full instructions before you deposit the sample. For the test to be fully accurate you must catch the first stream of urine.
5. Now we’ll take care of your results
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory.
