Once you’ve deposited your sample at one of our clinic locations across London, it will be taken to our laboratory for testing. Your sample will is sent by either First Class post or courier service and it will usually arrive at the laboratory the following working day depending on your appointment time. We’ll then test your sample to the highest standard of medical accuracy available to gain your results.
Turnaround times vary depending on the test that you choose, but once we receive your results you’ll be notified via your preferred method of contact. If your test returns a positive result then you’ll be offered a free GP consultation with our partner medical organisation. They will be able to answer any questions that you may have about your condition and prescribe your medication should it be required.
Any sexual health test requires an amount of time to pass following exposure to the STD before it offers accurate results. This is so that the STI you’re testing for can multiply to a detectable level within your body or so that your body can respond and create the antibodies that a test identifies. This length of time varies depending on the test, condition and individual and can be seen on our STI Tests product page.
Testing before this period of time has passed can result in you receiving a false negative result, whereby the test says that you’re clear but in actual fact you are infected. Luckily we have a range of Early Detection tests which allow you to diagnose HIV and Hepatitis at an early stage of 10 days, as opposed to the 28 days for our standard tests. If you have any questions about any of our accuracy dates contact us today.
It should also be noted that if you have symptoms of a particular condition then it will usually be at a detectable level, no matter how long has passed since exposure.
Every sexually transmitted infection will affect each patient in a different way and indeed for many they not experience any symptoms at all. For this reason the most effective way to know if you have an STI is to get tested. However, some common symptoms may include: –
- Discharge from your penis, vagina or anus
- Pain whilst urinating
- Lower abdominal pains
- Rashes, blisters or sores affecting your genital area
- Blood in between periods for women
If you notice any of these symptoms it’s important that you are tested or seek medical help. To find the most suitable test for you contact our customer services on 0161 660 2599.
Everyone has their own reasons for getting tested, here are just some of the reasons that might encourage you to get tested: –
- Starting a new relationship and you want to ensure you’re all clear
- If you’ve had a one night stand but didn’t use a condom
- General peace of mind testing if you’ve had more than one sexual partner in the previous year
- Before beginning IVF or if you’re trying for a baby
- To support your VISA application if you’re moving to a country that requires HIV free certification

- Discreet and confidential service where the only people who know about your test are you and us
- Clinics across Manchester which means you’ll be able to find the most suitable option for you
